Prescription Sunglasses in the Buffalo, NY Area
We have an array of styles for you to choose from, varying in frame style, lens color, and type. Lenses that are neutral gray or smoked in color provide superior color perception, though brown, amber, and green tints are also good options. Dark lenses are especially ideal for those who are sensitive to light. Sunglass tint does not affect the degree of UV protection that the sunglasses provide.
- Clip-On Lenses – Clip-on lenses are convenient, as they are used over glasses with prescriptions, simply clipping over the top of your eye glasses. Clip–on lenses can scratch your existing prescription eyeglass lenses, so caution must be used when using them.
- Gradient – Gradient lenses fade from a darker tint to a lighter tint, typically from dark at the top of the lens to lighter on the bottom, allowing comfortable vision over a wide range of distance and lighting conditions. We also offer double-gradient lenses, which are dark at both the top and bottom and are lighter in the center. Double-gradient lenses are particularly useful for skiing, snowboarding, and boating, where light can come from overhead or be reflected into the eyes from below.
- Mirrored – Mirrored lenses are lenses that are coated with a thin metallic film, which reduces the amount of light that passes through the lenses to the eyes.
- Photochromatic – Photochromatic lenses darken with UV light exposure. They adjust to a variety of light conditions, changing according to the amount of light, and they can be affected by temperature and lens thickness. They may not change rapidly enough to adjust to new light situations.
